Le Groupe Projet has won a major contract on the south shore of Montreal. The company from Châteauguay won a tender to carry out the asbestos removal and demolition of the Caisse Desjardins de La Prairie, an emblematic building on boulevard Taschereau.

Work started in April and will run for two months. a dozen specialized employees of our division Projet Démolition are mobilized to carry out this mandate.

The project was commissioned by LC Entrepreneurs Généraux 2000, a Boisbriand company recognized as a leader in this field since 1971. LC 2000 has chosen to partner with Groupe Projet for the first stages of the construction site. This valuable collaboration between the two companies has been ongoing for several years and promises to continue in the years to come.

Asbestos removal: our specialty

Over the past few weeks, our team has been dedicated to the delicate operation of removing asbestos from the building.

Asbestos removal is the removal or containment of asbestos to eliminate health risks. Since 2001, Groupe Projet has developed a solid expertise in this field. Our interventions focus on selective deconstruction, an approach that allows for the safe removal and disposal of contaminated materials, both inside and outside a building. The entire process is carried out in accordance with the rigorous standards of the CNESST (Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail).

Demolition and material upgrading

Once the asbestos removal was completed, our teams began the demolition of the building, with a focus on material recovery. Sorting, recycling and recovery are at the heart of our sustainable approach. The project will conclude with backfill and compaction, our sustainable approach. Caisse Desjardins La Prairie: 60 years of history!

Since 1965, the Caisse Desjardins de La Prairie has occupied this building, one of the oldest establishments in the region. A new service centre will soon be created, better adapted to the current needs of the population and in line with the evolution of the Desjardins Group.
